There are three primary sizes for imported number plates:

These dimensions correspond to the following measurements in mm:

  • 330mm x 178mm
  • 330mm x 165mm
  • 303mm x 152mm
  • 303mm x 165mm

We offer customer imported number plate sizes to accommodate the number of digits within the registration number, if you have a registration number with fewer than 7 characters then you can legally go even smaller than the 3 main sizes mentioned above.

No, Unfortunately they are not road legal anymore. Colour Number Plates was legal before 1st September 2021.

As long as you ensure the steps you follow in your 3D/4D Number Plates customisation select the legal boxes you need not be worried about legalities. Ensure your customisation features legal spacing, legal finish and legal characters and we will do the rest

6. Can I import personalised number plates from another country?

Yes, you can import personalised number plates from another country.

7. What documentation is required to import number plates?

We will accept ONE of the following documents from option 1 & ONE from option 2.

Option 1:

  • Your driver’s licence
  • Bank statement
  • Passport

Option 2:

  • Logbook (V5)
  • Certificate of Entitlement (V750 PINK SIDE)
  • Retention Certificate (V778 GREEN SIDE)
  • Certificate of Authorisation (V498/V498e), or Tax Reminder

8. Can I use my foreign number plates in the UK?

No, foreign number plates are not allowed for use on UK roads. You must register and use UK number plates.

9. How do I get UK number plates for my imported vehicle?

To get UK number plates, you need to register your vehicle with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). You’ll receive a registration certificate and be able to purchase number plates from registered suppliers.

10. Can I keep my original number plates from another country as a souvenir?

No, you cannot use foreign number plates on UK roads, even as a souvenir. They must be replaced with legal UK plates.

11. What documents do I need to register my imported vehicle with the DVLA?

You typically need the vehicle’s original registration documents, proof of vehicle ownership, a valid MOT certificate (if applicable), and other supporting documents. Check with the DVLA for specific requirements.

12. How do I choose a registration number for my vehicle?

You can either choose a standard registration number or opt for a personalised  number plate. The DVLA provides guidelines and options for selecting a registration number.

13. Can I transfer my existing number plate to my imported vehicle?

Yes, it is possible to transfer an existing UK number plate to your imported vehicle. Follow the DVLA guidelines for the transfer process.

14. Are there specific regulations for the design and display of UK number plates?

Yes, UK number plates must adhere to specific regulations regarding size, style, and spacing. They should also display the official British Standard mark and supplier details.

15. What do I do if my imported vehicle already has a registration number from another country?

You must change the registration to a UK one by registering the vehicle with the DVLA. The foreign registration is not valid for use on UK roads.

16. Can I drive my imported vehicle with foreign number plates while waiting for the UK plates?

In most cases, you can’t drive your imported vehicle on UK roads with foreign plates. You should wait until you receive your UK plates and complete the registration process before driving.

Screwing your 3D or 4D plate is not recommended, and will void your 3-year warranty. We recommended using Extra strong sticky-pads

Once you have submitted your details, the number plate will be made exactly as you have specified. Please double check before submitting your order.

As each number plate is personalised, they are non-refundable. If you change your mind or wish to cancel your order, you may do so as long as you do so within 15 minutes of its completion.

If you believe your product is faulty or has an issue, please contact us.

We are always happy to help resolve any issues.Returns can only be made if the goods are damaged or have been made incorrectly.

With this, we will rectify the issue and get them returned to you ASAP.

Number Plate Clinic isn’t responsible for postal delays, wrong postage methods, or non-UK addresses chosen for UK deliveries. Lost items are considered undelivered after 14 days, and once goods are dispatched, refunds or cancellations aren’t possible.

We’re not liable for lost, missing, or stolen goods. We’ll provide tracking details, but responsibility for following up lies with you. Replacements or refunds for lost items require a postal investigation and insurance payout.

Couriers will attempt delivery twice. If you’re unavailable, items may be destroyed, and no replacements will be made.
